So my aussie friend Laura over at stomalicious has held an Orientation for Ostomates on her instagram. This is by ostomates for ostomates but is helping raise awareness for those who maybe getting a stoma at some point., we talk a lot about surgery in this post.
With an ileostomy I know a lot of people worry about eating vegetables and salad for the risk of blockages or the fear that they may irritate their IBD. Well I found recently that I can eat salad again or at least I’ve eaten it everyday this week and had no problems so far *touch wood*
So as promised I have written down the food I have eaten this week and I would definitely say its been better. Don’t get me wrong its not saintly but who the hell wants to live on salad leaves and air? Not me that’s for sure, but hopefully I will shed a few pounds by not filling my face with crap! Well and feel better in myself from not being overloaded from food with empty calories from fat and sugar like in the last diary.
I am so tired today. I promised Ra-Ra we could go up the mountain (that’s what she calls Roseberry Topping) through the woods. I decided to do that today whilst 00Steve is away on his brothers stag do. I made up a picnic and got Ra-Ra all sun creamed up and off we went. Read more
So I had put Ra-Ra into nursery today (which isn’t her usual day) went and sat at my parents, then made my Dad breakfast before heading down to the hospital.
Today I had an appointment with General Surgery (General Surgery *salute* to all you HIMYM fans out there) I thought I would be seeing my surgeon but nope I saw the Stoma nurse which was fine because that’s who I wanted to see anyway! I needed some more barrier rings and my peristomal skin is quite sore again. *Naked Stoma* straight off the bat in the post!
With my impending Dietetics appointment on Tuesday I decided to note down everything I ate and drank unhealthy or not so I could have a thorough appointment. Because lets face it I have no idea what the appointment is even for!
In less than 4 weeks my brother in law is going to marry the most important woman in his life, the nicest girl in the world. Last night was her Hen Do, for my readers across the pond it’s another word for batchelorette party. I can tell you now I was so nervous about going, being in a proper night out outfit, being around pretty and slim girls made me feel incredibly self conscious even though I knew everyone there. But it was my first night out since having my ileostomy surgery in April. Read more
