Homemade Salsa and Potato Salad – Meatless Mondays

Homemade Salsa and Potato Salad - Meatless Mondays

Today I thought I would post my two stand by recipes for when I’m attending a barbecue or hosting one alongside my quiche which you can find here. I like to take something with me as I think it is only polite and it started with the potato salad and then the salsa was added. I try to make as many things as I can myself because if I’m honest I don’t have many things I think I’m good at but I like to think I’m fairly okay at cooking – or at least 00Steve thinks so! And since he is the main person I cook for that’s all that matters! Read more

Paris Weekend Break

Paris Weekend Break - Travelling with an Ostomy

So thanks to Purple Wings Charity really kindly giving me a grant of a hotel voucher for 00Steve and I to reconnect as having Ra-Ra then falling pregnant sadly losing Bean and falling pregnant with Button we never really had a chance to just adjust as a normal couple would after having major life changing surgery. Don’t get me wrong we never let my ileostomy get in the way of our relationship but we weren’t able to just be ourselves as we had little people to take care of! Thanks to Purple Wings Charity we were able to visit Paris! Read more

Butternut Squash Carbonara Meatless Mondays

Butternut Squash Carbnonara - Meatless Mondays

I do often find myself looking at vegetables I have in my crisper and trying to think of new things to do with them as I find myself eating the same thing over and over again. This is where Pinterest can come in to play especially when I’m not feeling imaginative; I type in the veggie in question and just look for something that catches my eye. Then it’s a case of turning it veggie which is simple enough and stoma proofing it for *me*; now the key thing is not all recipes can be classed as iron clad stoma proof as we all have different foods we can and can’t eat, so if I have included something you can’t eat do what I do and swap it for something you can! This is how this version of carbonara came about as it is based on this recipe which was based on another recipe! Mine serves a generous portion for one! Read more

What’s the Deal with Judging Mums?

what's the deal with judging mums

There are so many different reasons why mum’s become stressed, anxious and feel like they aren’t doing a good enough job. I have felt all of these in with both my children separately and both together. People pass judgement on mums (and dads let’s be honest) all the time, without caring how it will make the other person feel or without knowing what they have gone through to get to that point. This is a fairly long post for me and a bit ranty so here is your last warning to grab yourself a cuppa, maybe a biscuit and get ready for the long haul! Read more

What is the Hype around Self Care – Time to Talk Tuesdays

what is the hype around self care? time to talk tuesdays

Is the term “self care” just another empty buzz word or is it really something we should start to look into more thoroughly? So if you read the last installment of “Time to Talk Tuesday” post about making your own happiness, positive perspective you will have seen I had ordered The Blurt Foundation’s founder and CEO’s book called “The Self Care Project” and I am not going to lie it has blown me away. I honestly felt better after reading it and felt like in time I will be able to make steps in the right direction. Read more

Roasted Squash Salad – Meatless Mondays

roasted squash salad - meatless mondays

Sorry for the lack of recipes recently I have been eating the same things or not eating at all as I have gone back onto sertraline and it has taken my appetite with it. If you follow my Instagram you may have seen some of the stories I put up regarding the food I have been eating and this one is by far my favourite and is from Womens Health “Flat Belly Meals”. This is one of the most delectable things I have ever eaten squash in and I like squash! So even though I am fine with most foods I know not everyone is so I have tried to think about ways people could eat these with little or no worries with regards to getting a blockage. Read more

Does Having an Ileostomy Cure Ulcerative Colitis?

does having an ileostomy cure ulcerative colitis?

Ulcerative Colitis is it cured by having an ileostomy? Is something people often ask in groups or just outright believe because surgeons tell them that they are cured once they have their ostomy surgery. This is something I have heard opinions from both sides and as I live with a permanent ileostomy and have lived with Ulcerative Colitis the majority of my life; I decided I would give you *my* view on the subject. using canva for graphics - blog tips

Do you sometimes wonder how people that have blogs do their graphics? Or do you love people’s social media images?
