Recover, Adapt, Overcome

conference and ball

I have a heck of a lot of respect and love for the Purple Wings Charity. I genuinely don’t believe I would be in the position I am now if it wasn’t for a message about the ball I saw in a group. The conference is where I was able to make contacts who became friends such as Jasmine and Nozar, let alone Lauren and meeting a ton of friendly and amazing ostomates which you can read about the conference and the ball in those links. Hi I’m Stephie And I’m Scared To Drink

dehydration

Hi I’m Stephie and I’m scared to drink fluids incase it makes my stoma output watery. That’s what I would be saying if I was in a stoma support group you know like AA or something of the like. And with this newfound phobia I have caused myself to become dehydrated, this obviously isn’t good on soooo many levels. On the plus side I have an appetite now! *naked stoma photo below* Read more

Tour De Yorkshire More Like Tour De Hospital

bikes

So a few things have happened this weekend that have prevented me from posting. Mainly which have been energy levels.

Saturday I just really didn’t want to change my bag, I just couldn’t be bothered really. I had no get up and go, I wonder how many other people get like this? It is usually over and done with quite quickly so I shouldn’t really have an issue. But I didnt want to go up the stairs, I just wanted to stay curled up in my armchair and not move at all. I find this sometimes with regards to even emptying it sometimes. I usually empty it about when it’s 1/4 way full when it’s not playing well with me and decides to be overly watery. But when it’s being too thick I just leave it as long as I can because it doesn’t fill up as fast. But yesterday the Tour De Yorkshire came through our village and I had promised Ra-Ra that 00Steve and I would take her to see the bikes. Read more

Tears But No Fears

nurse

So I got in touch with the Stoma nurse yesterday and mentioned my sore skin, leak and the fact my stoma seems to have fallen slightly. She asked if I would like to go in and just be checked over as everything she needed was there rather than a home visit. So off we toddled to the Friarage, 00Steve and Ra-Ra stayed in the car watching Mickey Mouse (much to his dismay) Read more
