I have literally been wanting to do this post for aaaages! But I have really had to lean on 00Steve to do this because although he is incredibly supportive of everything I do to raise Ostomy Awareness, he would rather do it in the background where he can just listen to me whinge! But I thought it might be beneficial to hear what it is like to live with someone who is chronically sick. Read more
So I get a few comments or raised eyebrows over what I can and can’t eat. I eat predominantly a vegetarian/vegan diet but I do still on occasion eat meat and this is usually limited to white meat. I don’t have this diet for any particular animal rights or even strict dietary requirements. I am not overly keen on red meats, this may have something to do with it irritatating my Ulcerative Colitis but now I just don’t really care for it unless it is in a tomato based pasta dish. I just prefer eating vegetarian foods and because I still have some mild very mild intolerances to dairy I often eat vegan unless it is cheese, cheese has never done me any harm so I won’t give it up! And like me not actually realising it? Now I have been really good when it had come to the bags, I asked my delivery company which is Securicare awhile back to put the bags on hold. This was partly to do with pregnancy affecting my skin and how it took to the bags. But I received a phone call on Monday from Securicare as a courtesy to see if my order needed changing. Now I dropped a few things and only added one, but it made me think do I really need everything on my order? And what did I have in stock? Read more
…In your medical teams. Right now I’m having a repeat of when I was pregnant with Ra-Ra but this time they don’t seem to be wanting to help me. The first time around my obstetrics/midwifery team was fairly small as it was a relatively small hospital, since then departments have been closed down and everything has pretty much been shifted to the hospital up the road who is part of the local trust. Now most people in my local area or at least my hometown don’t have much faith in the bigger hospital and I’ve been witness to this both with colorectal and now obstetrics. Read more
So a lot of women have the dilemma of what do they take to the hospital for the birth of their baby. Now it’s definitely easier after you have done it before, but what about when you are having a caesarean? or if you have a stoma or like me both! Well as I have had a caesarean before and took far too much stuff for the fact I was in for two nights I have a better idea this time round. I will only really be going into detail about the stuff for me because any list for baby you can find on the internet will be pretty much what I would write…vests, an outfit or two, a blanket, a soft toy that sort of thing. In fact your hospital may even provide you with a list of items to bring for baby so if in doubt ASK!! Read more
Now this is a story all about how my my day got flipped turned upside down and I’d like to take a minute, just sit right there. I’ll tell you how I got wrapped up in despair. I was admitted to hospital last week and for me it was a pretty scary experience. Read more
So I decided that I should maybe do another post on where I am at with my pregnancy; be warned it wont be a short read and I am very honest in my posts. I feel I should add a little disclaimer that these are my personal experiences and every pregnancy is different, What I am going through in this pregnancy may not relate to you or even be something you ever will!
