OstoMyFit My Goals

So this months topic on The IBD and Ostomy Support Show is Natalie’s choice of fitness, hence OstoMyFit. So I thought I would talk about my goals and where I would like to be by the end of the month.

So now as I am 8 weeks since having baby Button I should be well in the clear for exercise (I have my post natal check next week) and I think I should be pretty safe to get stuck in with the OstoMyFit theme!

I also have mild Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) and it has been in full swing since having Button. I am hoping that doing the exercise will allow my brain to accept that I can eat more than one/two meals a day. I have included photos that will be my “progress photos” which hopefully will help with the BDD, I am keeping my weight/measurements to myself as I don’t want to trigger anyone.

So my plan is to:-

  • start the C25K again and run 3x a week
  • go swimming at least once (Button is due his jabs so will take him towards the end of the month)
  • pilates the pre-natal dvd 4x a week
  • dance central on the xbox 2x a week
  • eat 3 meals a day (even if they are small)
  • drink 2/3L a day
  • take photos at the end to see how far I have come

I used to be an avid runner before the pouchitis took hold so I am looking forward to getting back into it and hopefully my mental health will benefit from it too. I never believed you could truly enjoy exercise and your mental health improve until I became a runner, I was in no way fast; in fact I described myself as an elderly zombie!! But I think enjoying yourself with exercise helps to keep you accountable with yourself. I might even see if the running group my friend runs is on.

I really enjoy the dance games you can get and as long as the curtains are closed and I have no spectators I get right into it! The pilates is because I am suffering with muscle pain from the positions I lay or sit in when feeding Button and the stretching is good for toning up.

Ha ha I ALWAYS look ridiculous in these photos but hey ho! Are you going to be joining in with OstoMyFit? I would love to hear from you if you are!
