So I finally sorted out an emergency go bag to stay in the car. I’ve used my small hiking bag which I can’t see me using for hiking any time soon, that and 00Steve often carries a bag when we do go.
I decided other than it not getting a lot of use in the foreseeable future, my hiking bag had plenty of space inside plus pockets a plenty which to me makes it perfect as an emergency go bag. It also looks inconspicuous enough that I wouldn’t get any funny looks as I go into the public toilets. Yes that is indeed the Riddler from Batman hanging off the bag, he is my favourite villain of all time. In the bag I’ve got a random assortment of things that I feel may be what I need in case of an emergency whilst out and about.
- A change of clothes
- Adhesive remover
- Convex bag cut to size – to save time
- Disposable bags
- A clothes clip – for anything floaty I maybe wearing
- Loperamide – to help slow output if needed
- Barrier rings
- Protective film
- Cereal bar
- A sports hydration drink
- Radar key (not pictured) to allow me access to most disabled toilets in the UK
Now I totally may not need all of these bits but I figured since I’ve only had my stoma for 2 weeks now it’s better to have more of things that are small and don’t take up much space. I found that packing items I have received as samples work well as it doesn’t eat into my normal day to day ostomy supply stock. Now I know I haven’t put wipes in the bag but as a mum I not only have wipes in 00Steve’s car but Ra-Ra’s travel bag so that isn’t much of a worry to me.
